Undergraduate Stage Management training at RWCMD covers core
technical skills, sound and lighting design, and the full range of
stage management skills from creating call sheets and rehearsal
reports to the financial planning and scheduling of international
tours.

management, stagecraft and technical theatre
- Tuition, supervision and mentoring from an
established team of experienced industry practitioners
- Opportunities to gain significant practical experience of live
production work within the College’s wide ranging performance and
events programme. Students assume the roles of SM, DSM,
lighting designer and sound designer
- Close collaboration with actors, designers and directors under
professional working conditions
- Practical modules covering range of skills required for
employment as SM, ASM, DSM, technician, lighting designer, sound
designer, video designer and programmer
- Advanced training in practical stage management skills from
creating call sheets and rehearsal reports to the financial
planning and scheduling of international tours
- Technical training in the design, rigging and operation of a
wide range of theatre lighting, sound and video equipment
- Access to state-of-the-art equipment such as Grand MA lighting
desks, GDS Stage Management Systems, Roland, Yamaha and
Behringer/Midas digital sound equipment and Nomad computerised
flying systems, D3 and Isadora Video media servers
- Practical stagecraft workshops focusing on safe working
practices including use of flying and scenery rigging, scenery
construction and access equipment
- Opportunities to undertake up to three professional work
experience placements with external companies in the UK or
abroad
- Opportunities to undertake a work placement in the College’s
venue at the Edinburgh
