Entry to the postgraduate music programmes is by audition.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a level of performance
ability appropriate for professional training.
Minimum entry requirements usually include an undergraduate
degree in music (2:1 or higher for Masters applicants) or an
equivalent qualification. Candidates who have been studying or
working in another field will be considered.
Applicants who already have a postgraduate diploma or equivalent
qualification in music may be eligible for entry to the one year
MMus ‘Top-Up’ programme.
International Applicants
International applicants whose first language is not English
will need to gain an IELTS English language qualification. IELTS is
the only English language qualification recognised by UK Visas
& Immigration. The IELTS test you will need to sit is the
IELTS Academic for UKVI and this test
must be taken at an Approved Test
Centre.
For the Postgraduate Diploma Programmes you
will need to achieve an overall IELTS 5.5 with no lower than 5.5 in
reading, writing, listening or speaking components.
For the MMus Programmes over one
year you will need to achieve an overall IELTS 6.5 with no
lower than 6.0 in reading and writing and no lower than 5.5 in
listening or speaking components.
For the MMus Programmes over two
years you will need to achieve an overall IELTS 6.0 with
no lower than 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
components.
