Entry to the Advanced Course is by audition during the summer
term * for entry the following September. As a guide, the entry
standard for younger applicants (year 7) is approximately Grade 5
with merit/distinction. A higher standard is generally expected of
older students. Consideration is given to your musical potential as
well as your age and instrument.
There is an audition fee of £15.
* Additional auditions may be held in August, November and
February if places are available. However, please be aware that
bursary funding may not be available at this stage in the academic
year. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
for up-to-date advice.
At your audition, you will be asked to perform two
contrasting pieces on your principal study and one piece
on your additional study, if applicable.
The audition will also include:
- scales and arpeggios
- sight-reading tests
- pitch and rhythm tests
- an informal interview where you will be asked to discuss
your musical aspirations and other interests
