Music First runs on Saturdays and provides a stepping stone for
children aged 7-11 who have started their musical education and
want to develop their skills quickly.
The central feature of the course is specialist
one-to-one instrumental tuition. Please note that
we are unable to offer voice tuition through the Music First
course. Your tutor will devise a bespoke scheme of work including
technical exercises and pieces designed to develop an effective
basic technique as well as musical awareness. We can also arrange
lessons on an additional instrument.
The curriculum also includes theory classes,
which provide a progressive course of music theory and notation,
offering students the opportunity to enter for ABRSM theory
examinations each summer term. Supporting classes cover
aural training and provide opportunities for the
children to perform to their peers.
Weekly choir rehearsals culminate in termly
performances or open rehearsals for family and friends.
All children benefit from the highest quality tuition and
support from our specialist staff.
