Born and raised in Dublin, Conor grew up in an extensive musical
family, and was
exposed to a wide variety of music from a very early age. He
studied the recorder
and trumpet at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, recorder until
aged fourteen and
trumpet aged nineteen.
In 2011 Conor began his orchestral trumpet studies at the Royal
Welsh College of
Music & Drama. It was whilst studying at RWCMD that he
stumbled across the
world of Historical Performance. In his final years at the College
he studied Cornetto part time with Jeremy West (His Majesty’s
Sagbutts and Cornetts) and Gawain Glenton (The English Cornett and
Sackbut Ensemble), and has since been an active performer in the
UK. From 2014-2016 he studied Cornetto at the Schola Cantorum
Basiliensis in Switzerland, under the tutelage of Bruce Dickey and
Frithjof Smith.
Since completing his studies in Basel, Conor has performed all
over Europe,
Scandinavia and The Americas with The English Cornett and Sackbut
Ensemble,
His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts, I Fagiolini, The Gabrieli
Consort and Players,
The King’s Consort, Sestina, Concerto dell’Ombra-Ensemble
Lamaraviglia,
Göteborg Baroque along with numerous freelance dates all over the
world. Conor
is an active solo performer in Ireland and abroad, and has
performed solo recitals
as part of The Music in Monkstown Festival, The Galway Early Music
Festival and
RTE Lyric FM, Galway Cathedral Recital Series and Dún Laoghaire
Organ Recital
Festival.
In 2017 Conor was delighted to accept the post of permanent
Cornett player in The
English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, alongside his former teacher,
Gawain Glenton.
