Eryl Phillips trained as an actor at Rose
Bruford College of Speech and Drama and the Conservatoire National
d’Art dramatique. He has worked extensively as an actor in Film,
Television and Theatre in both Welsh and English and was a
founding member Dalier Sylw, a theatre company dedicated
to new Welsh Language writing, which involved a secondment to
Paines Plough.
Directing theatre led to joining Opus
Television and he went on to produce and direct many series for S4C
including the BAFTA Cymru award winning films, Sion a
Sian and Y Twr , as well as producing
the award winning, The Indian Doctor for BBC. Combining
theatre and film he produced the feature The Gospel of
Us, Michael Sheen’s Port Talbot passion play. More recently he
directed Albi a Noa, the Christmas Film for S4C, and
Fiction Factory’s Gwaith Cartref which involved directing
many former students of Royal Welsh College of Music &
Drama.
He has led the Acting for Screen modules at
RWCMD for several years and trains directors for the BBC
Academy.
