Frances is Head of Movement at Royal Welsh
College of Music & Drama with responsibility for
programming movement training for the BA (Hons) Acting, MA Acting
for Stage, Screen and Radio, MA Musical Theatre, BMus
(Hons) Music (vocal) courses and MA Advanced Opera
Performance. She manages a team of dance and movement professionals
ensuring current industry trends and practice are reflected in to
the delivery of the course.
Following a career as an international modern
rhythmic gymnast Frances trained as a dancer at the Laban Centre
(Transitions Advanced Performance Course) and Coventry University -
where she achieved a first class degree in Arts Practise and
Cultural Policy. She has worked as a professional contemporary
dancer for television, theatre and The National Dance Company of
Wales.
Whilst at RWCMD she has worked on many
musicals, theatre and opera productions. As a freelancer, she has
choreographed for Welsh National Opera, Bristol Old Vic, Sherman
Theatre, The Watermill at Newbury and The Southwark
Playhouse. She choreographed the national tour of
Quadrophonia, the Rock Opera.
Frances is a hands-on teacher who instils a
disciplined, creative and technical approach to physical
training. She encourages safe practise, self-expression,
working with economy, release and sensation and is passionate about
equipping the student for the demands of the industry.
