A
self- taught musician, Dudley won a scholarship to study Music at
Guildhall and now teaches jazz electric guitar and double bass at
RWCMD.
He has toured the world with artists such as
Bill Withers, Mica Paris, Womack and Womack, Mark Knopfler and
Loreena McKennit, and has done many stints at Ronnie Scott’s with
jazz greats including Cedar Walton, Billy Cobham, Tom Scott and Jon
Hendricks.
He co-formed the group ‘Perfect Houseplants’,
recording six albums, and has co-written albums for Monica
Vasconcelos and Filomena Campus.
He is has just released a second solo album,
BASSheARTMANtra, which has been widely praised.
He has recorded over a hundred albums with
artists such as: Anja Garbarek, Andy Sheppard, John Etheridge, Huw
Warren, June Tabor, Yazz Ahmed, Orphy Robinson, Colin Towns,
Charlie Wood, Amy Winehouse, Charlie Dore, John Harle, Marc Almond,
Jacqui Dankworth, Mark Lockheart, Ayub Ogada and Susheela
Raman.
He works regularly with Birmingham Royal
Ballet’s jazz programme [choreographed by David Bintley], and is
part of the theatre show Misterioso based on the life of
Thelonius Monk.
