Jayne
is currently Head of Percussion at Wells Cathedral School, a post
she has held for the last 23 years.
Since graduating from RWCMD in 1985 she has developed a busy
schedule as a freelance performer, Principal examiner for The
Guildhall School of Music, Lecturer in teaching at The Royal Welsh
College of Music and Drama and is in great demand as an adjudicator
and Percussion consultant to many of the Counties in the UK
Very few teachers nationwide can equal Jayne’s breadth of
teaching experience, which is why she was appointed to her most
recent post at the RWCMD. Very many of her pupils have gone on to
win awards and scholarships to major conservatoires and
competitions. Many of her former students have gone on to
successful careers – as leading West End musicians, Sound
Engineers, teachers and performers in major British and Eurpean
orchestras.
As an orchestral coach Jayne has worked for the National Youth
Wind Orchestra of Great Britain and Wales, National Youth Wind
Ensemble of England and Wales, National Children’s Orchestra, IAPS
Orchestra, National Youth Brass Band and over 10 county youth
orchestras. Jayne undertakes seminars and master classes on
percussion teaching and is involved in the National Association of
Percussion teachers. In 2000 Jayne was invited to compile the
Trinity/ Guildhall Percussion syllabus and the current syllabus is
the direct result of many years work, compiling and researching the
most up to date repertoire. Many of Jayne’s own compositions
feature in the syllabus.
