Nancy
Johnson is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she completed
her Masters degree, and the Manchester University/Royal Northern
College of Music joint course. Her teachers include Hilary Hart,
Susie Meszaros and Toby Appel and she he has performed in
masterclasses with Itzhak Perlman, Thomas Riebl and Diemut
Poppen.
Whilst in New York, Nancy performed as a
chamber musician at Alice Tully Hall and also at Carnegie Weill
Hall as violist of the Degas String Quartet with whom she
was the graduate resident Quartet at Syracuse University,
NY. After moving to London, Nancy became a member of the Tavec
Quartet, attending the European Academy for String Quartets in
Aix-en-Provence and performing at the Wigmore Hall. Nancy has also
attended Prussia Cove, The Salzburg Sommer Akademie and the
Sarasota Music Festival.
Nancy has freelanced in London for many
years and is now based in Cardiff. As an orchestral musician, she
performs primarily with the London Symphony Orchestra and regularly
with many other orchestras and chamber ensembles including the BBC
Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharomonic Orchestra, English Chamber
Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields and Welsh National
Opera. She is a member of Triocca, the Ireland-based flute, viola
and harp ensemble. Triocca have performed and given workshops and
masterclasses internationally and have appeared on television and
radio. They have released a CD on the Lyric FM label which includes
specially commissioned works.
