
Yu Yasuraoka was born in Japan and graduated from the Toho
Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo. She moved to Europe in 1975 as a
member of the International Menuhin Academy based in Holland and
then in Gstaad, Switzerland. She moved to London in 1980, where she
has lived since. Yu has played as a soloist with many of the
leading orchestras in the UK and abroad and has recorded concertos
for BBC Radio 3.
Yu has considerable experience in all aspects of professional
music as a soloist, recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician,
and a teacher. She has participated in a wide range of music from
the baroque to the contemporary, the latter as a member of groups
such as the Fires of London and the London Sinfonietta.
Yu began teaching whilst still a student in Japan and has since
given masterclasses in Europe and in the Far East.
