
David Doidge is a member of the music department at the Welsh
National Opera.
At WNO, David has worked on many productions with
internationally acclaimed conductors such as Carlo Rizzi, Lothar
Köenigs, Tomáš Hanus, Ainars Rubikis and Erik Nielsen with
highlights including Tosca, Don Giovanni,
Eugene Onegin and Der Rosenkavalier.
Other recent engagements include working as assistant conductor
and répétiteur for Tosca at the Abu Dhabi Festival with Sir Bryn
Terfel, Kristine Opolais Vittorio Grigolo and Sinfonia Cymru
conducted by Gareth Jones, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Live
in Concert – UK Tour with the Novello Orchestra, conducted by
David Mahoney and concerts with Welsh tenor Trystan Llŷr Griffiths,
Eurovision and West End star, Lucie Jones and soprano Lesley
Garrett.
A regular artist in Wales, UK appearances include performances
at the Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and St
Martin-in-the-Fields in London; the Leeds Lieder Festival and the
Edinburgh International Festival. Further afield he has appeared in
Los Angeles, Rome, Ischia, Oman and Brussels. Concert and recital
partners include Sir Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans, Nuccia Focile,
Gwyn Hughes Jones, Lesley Garrett, Alfie Boe, Trystan Llŷr
Griffiths, Gary Griffiths and Bruce Sledge.
David has featured in many recordings and live broadcasts for
BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and BBC Radio Wales, as well as television
appearances with Sir Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins, and Connie
Fisher.
David is a visiting coach for the Opera School and vocal studies
department at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in
Cardiff.
