
Dan graduated with a masters degree in repetiteur studies from
the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2005, and has since
worked frequently as a freelance musical director and workshop
leader for the Max department of Welsh National Opera and other
companies around Cardiff and Northern Ireland. As
repetititeur he has been fortunate to work on several new opera
commissions including The Tailor’s Daughter, and the
Land Sea Sky Trilogy for WNO Max and Lynne Plowman’s
House of the Gods for Music Theatre Wales, and has
conducted three operas for WNO: Dolffin, The Merman
King and most recently Judith Weir’s Black
Spider. He is musical director for Singing Club, WNO’s
in house youth choir and most recently for the RWCMD’s schools
opera project, where he also lectures in workshop and outreach
skills. Dan recently returned from Belfast where he was assistant
conductor on the premier of Brian Irvine’s opera Postcards from
Dumbworld. He is a performer on the Live Music Now
scheme and twice winner of the RWCMD prize for piano
accompaniment.
