
Sharon graduated from the University of Wales
and continued her studies at the University of Keele, the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama, and finally at the National Opera
Studio. She began her career as an opera repetiteur with Welsh
National Opera, and has since worked with Glyndebourne Festival
Opera, Opera North, English Touring Opera and Icelandic Opera,
working with eminent conductors including Bernard Haitink, Sir
Simon Rattle, Mark Ermler, Sir Charles Mackerras and Carlo
Rizzi.
Recently, Sharon has been principally associated with Welsh
National Opera and has played regularly with the Orchestra of Welsh
National Opera including at the Faenol Festival in North Wales. As
an accompanist, Sharon has taken part in masterclasses given by
distinguished artists including Dame Janet Baker, Brigitte Nielsen,
Richard Bonynge and Ileana Cotrubas.
As an orchestral pianist she has appeared with the BBC National
Orchestra of Wales, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and
the English Northern Sinfonia. She also works regularly as an
audition accompanist for the BBCNOW.
From 1999 to 2001 Sharon was accompanist to the BBC National Chorus
of Wales where she worked closely with Richard Hickox, Paul Daniel
and Grant Llewelyn.
Sharon is a piano tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama and Atlantic College and was a vocal coach and accompanist
for the Cardiff International Academy of Voice. She is also a
member of the Examining Panel for the Associated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music.
