Homonoia Duo - Violin & Piano Duo

The Homonoia Duo is Deva Rossi on piano and José Matias on
violin. They share a passion for chamber music and produce
energetic and emotional performances, influenced by their diverse
background.
José Nuno Cabrita Matias was born in 1998 in Lagos, Portugal.
His musical education began at the age of 5 when he entered the
"Academia de Música de Lagos" with Prof. Oxana Temniakova. He
attended masterclasses in Portugal and in the United Kingdom with
Nicola Benedetti, Odin Rathnam, Augusto Trindade amongst other
international soloists.
He won several prizes over the years in national competitions
including 2nd prize in “Concurso Vasco Barbosa” in 2015 and 1st
prize in “Concurso Anatólio Fale” in 2016. José has performed as an
orchestral musician with the ”Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa”,
“Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León” and “Orquestra de Câmara
Portuguesa”. In 2015 he performed as the soloist of the premiere of
“Concerto com sonância”, composed by Armando Mota. José joined the
Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in September 2016, where
he is currently studying with Lesley Hatfield.
Deva Rossi was born in 1996 in Zürich, Switzerland. Her musical
education began at the age of 7 when she entered the “Scuola di
Musica ed Arti Classiche” with Prof. Antonia Onofrio in her
hometown Riva San Vitale. Her studies continued at the
Conservatoire in Lugano with Prof. Nora Doallo and at the
Conservatoire in Como, Italy. In 2013 and 2014 she attended an
international Masterclass in Vienna, Austria, with Prof. Susanna
Spaemann.
She was invited by Japanese pianists Masahi Katayama and Mami
Morimoto to Tokyo for an intensive Masterclass in September 2014.
In the following years, 2015 and 2016, Deva participated in
masterclasses with John Byrne and Katya Apekisheva at Wells
Cathedral School, also taking intensive private lessons with Prof.
Olena Shvetsova and Prof. Richard May. Deva joined the Royal Welsh
College of Music & Drama in September 2016, where she studied
keyboard with Richard Ormrod and is currently a student of Michael
Young.
