Joshua Lascar - Jazz and Contemporary Guitar

Joshua Lascar is a guitarist, composer
and arranger, with a special passion for Jazz. After growing up in
the Netherlands from a French-American background, in September
2017 he came to study in Wales. This diverse upbringing helped form
his open and cheerful personality, both musically and socially.
Since arriving, Joshua has become a prominent figure in the
Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) Jazz Department.
You might have seen him curating and compering the Amser
Jazz Time concerts every Friday - one of the biggest regular
Jazz audiences in Wales - or playing in numerous gigs around
Cardiff, performing anything from jazz, contemporary jazz, jazz
folk, to pop/funk and original music.
Prior to joining RWCMD, Joshua attended the School for Young
Talent at the Royal Conservatoire of the Netherlands (Koninklijke
Conservatorium) and received a scholarship to study with Berklee
College of Music Online. Some of his notable performances have
included performing for the Prince of Wales, performing on BBC
Radio 1 Wales, performing with the Berklee College of Music 5-Week
Big Band in Boston and performing as part of the AMIS International
Honor Jazz Festival.
Inspired by Jazz guitarists like Jim Hall, Jimmy Raney and Gilad
Hekselman, Joshua loves exploring the possibilities of guitar
through melody, Jazz harmony and tonal capabilities of the
instrument.
