The Drama Association of
Wales (DAW) formerly housed the largest lending collection of
scripts in English in the UK. In 2014, the play text collection
transferred to the RWCMD Library and is available for hire to
individuals and groups.

Although there is usually one person dealing with DAW requests,
you might speak to anyone in the Library team and we are all happy
to help.
Opening times
A member of staff should usually be available from 9am to 5pm,
Monday to Friday, all year round, to deal with enquiries. Please
see full details of our opening times and
any variations.
Membership and hire charges
An annual membership subscription is payable by individuals and
groups who wish to hire play texts from the DAW collection.
Please note: membership of the hire library is
separate from any payments made directly to DAW and relate to the
cost to RWCMD to provide loan copies of the DAW collection.
Members of the hire library are entitled to hire up to 10 titles
(single playscripts or sets) at any one time. Hire fees and postage
charges are payable on each item borrowed.
Full details of the current membership and hire charges are
listed in the Membership scheme for DAW
collection document.
To become a member, please complete and return the membership form to us by
post or email.
What’s in the DAW collection?
The collection includes several thousand plays, with a focus on
sets. We have been gradually listing and organising the collection
and have now added more than 2500 titles to our online catalogue. Select
‘Drama Association of Wales (DAW)’ from the drop-down list and
enter your search terms in the box. However, if what you are
looking for does not appear in the search results, please contact
us as we can check and let you know whether we have it, since this
is still only a small part of the whole collection.
Hiring a play
Although orders can be taken over the phone, we ask that
whenever possible you use our order form to send through
your requests by post or email. It is advisable to request plays at
least one week before they are needed, to allow
time for us to search for, collect and post them. We can often do
this faster, but we are a small team and run the service on top of
running our Library, so staff sickness or leave may cause
delays.
