After training and working as an Actress in London and Europe, Louise moved to Wales in 1981. She joined Theatr Powys, where she stayed for fourteen years becoming Artistic Director in 1985. Since then she has established herself as a freelance Writer/Director, working in Theatre, her first passion, Radio, Film and TV. She also loves to teach and leads workshops in Acting, Writing and Directing. In 2006 she was appointed as Associate Director to Hijinx Theatre until 2010 – in this role she oversaw the development of new writing for Community Theatre. She now lives in Cardiff, where she has a busy freelance career, recently working with WNO Max, National Theatre of Wales and Sherman Cymru. She is currently under commission with Sherman Cymru for a production of a new play Maudie’s Rooms in 2013. She has significant experience in the mentoring of new writers. With twelve theatre plays produced, Louise is particularly known for her powerful work for young people, for which she has a distinct passion. Louise also has a substantial track record in television, having written over 30 episodes of teen drama Hollyoaks where she learned her craft as a television scriptwriter. Her radio work includes two plays for the BBC – Camilla’s House on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, and Steel Stitches.
